Since his appointment, Cardoso has overseen a highly successful period for the Brazilians, guiding them to three major trophies.
He led Sundowns to the Betway Premiership title during his first season in charge before recently adding the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup.
Last season, Cardoso also delivered the CAF Champions League, a trophy Sundowns had been unable to win for several years.
His record before Saturday’s final stands at 63 victories, 24 draws and 12 defeats from 99 official matches in charge.
Despite that success, Cardoso is still waiting for his first domestic Cup triumph. Victory over Orlando Pirates would therefore bring him the MTN8 trophy while marking his 100th game at the helm of Mamelodi Sundowns.
The final also gives Sundowns the chance to overcome Pirates in a repeat of the 2023 showpiece, with both sides set to contest the title once again.
