Royal Moroccan Football Federation is continuing efforts to strengthen the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with reports suggesting that highly rated forward Mohamed Ali Cho is close to committing his international future to Morocco.
The 21-year-old forward, currently playing for OGC Nice, has emerged as one of the leading dual-nationality players being targeted by Moroccan football officials as preparations intensify for upcoming international competitions.
According to multiple media reports, Cho has already taken significant steps toward changing his sporting nationality after expressing his desire to represent Morocco at senior international level.
The reports indicate that the player has signed documents linked to the international eligibility process, although some legal and administrative procedures still need to be finalised before any official confirmation can be made.
Cho is regarded as one of the notable young attacking talents to emerge in French football in recent years. Born in France in 2004 to an Ivorian father and a Moroccan mother, he has been eligible to represent several national teams throughout his career.
The forward’s potential arrival would represent another important addition for Morocco as the national federation continues to focus on recruiting talented players with dual nationality ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Cho’s football development began in France with local side Chantilly before he joined the academy of Paris Saint-Germain, where he spent four years developing his technical ability.
He later moved to England to continue his progression with Everton FC. The striker remained with Everton for five years until 2020, a period viewed as an important stage in shaping his tactical and physical development.
Since then, Cho has gained experience across several clubs in European football. He first featured professionally with Angers SCO before later spending time with Real Sociedad in Spain.
He currently plays for Nice in Ligue 1, where he has continued to develop steadily and establish himself as a versatile attacking option.
During the latest season, Cho featured in 33 matches across all competitions, accumulating more than 2,000 minutes of playing time. He scored five goals and provided five assists, taking his direct goal contributions to ten for the campaign.
His performances have strengthened his reputation as one of the promising young forwards in European football and increased interest surrounding his international future.
At youth international level, Cho represented several countries during different stages of his development. He first played for England’s under-16 side before later featuring for France at under-19, under-20 and Olympic levels.
Morocco’s pursuit of dual-nationality talent has become a significant part of the federation’s long-term strategy in recent years, particularly after the national team’s strong performances on the international stage.
If the remaining procedures are completed successfully, Cho could soon become the latest European-based talent to join Morocco’s growing pool of attacking options ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
