AS Monaco have made enquiries about Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr as they prepare for a potentially busy final period of the transfer window.
The French club are considering midfield reinforcements because fellow Senegal international Lamine Camara has attracted interest from several European clubs following an impressive start to the season. Monaco could therefore need a replacement if Camara leaves before the window closes.
According to The Telegraph, Monaco have contacted Tottenham to establish Sarr’s availability.
The 23-year-old has been with Tottenham’s first team for four seasons and is reportedly open to a change of environment this summer. However, Monaco face competition from Galatasaray, who have also expressed interest in the Senegal midfielder.
Galatasaray have so far been reluctant to meet Tottenham’s financial demands, potentially giving Monaco an opportunity to advance discussions.
Sarr remains under contract with Tottenham until June 2030, giving the Premier League club significant negotiating leverage. His market value is estimated at around €30 million.
For Monaco, the interest in Sarr is directly linked to uncertainty surrounding Camara. Should the latter leave, the club would need to move quickly to maintain depth in midfield.
Sarr’s experience in the Premier League and at international level makes him an attractive option, while his long-term Tottenham contract means Monaco would likely have to meet a significant valuation to take him to France.
For now, however, Monaco’s approach remains at the enquiry stage, with no agreement between the clubs reported.
