Egypt winger Mohamed Salah has joined Trabzonspor from Liverpool on a free transfer, completing a high-profile move to the Turkish Super Lig on 4 August 2026.
The 34-year-old right winger leaves Liverpool after nine years at the club, having joined from Roma in July 2017 for €42m. He made 328 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, scoring 193 goals and providing 95 assists.
Salah arrives at Trabzonspor as a two-time African Footballer of the Year and a player with an extensive list of honours. During his time at Liverpool, he won the Champions League in 2018-19, the FIFA Club World Cup in 2020 and three English league titles.
He also helped Liverpool win the FA Cup, three English League Cups and the English Super Cup. Salah was named Footballer of the Year in 2018, 2022 and 2025, while he won the Premier League Golden Boot five times, most recently after scoring 29 goals in the 2024-25 campaign.
His arrival follows a major period of success at Liverpool, where he established himself as a prolific left-footed attacker operating from the right. He has also recorded 50 goals and 21 assists in 98 Champions League appearances.
Salah began his senior career with Egyptian club El Mokawloon before moving to Swiss side Basel in 2012. He won two Swiss league titles with Basel and moved to Chelsea in January 2014 for €16.5m.
After loan spells at Fiorentina and Roma, he joined Roma permanently for €15m in 2016. His performances in Italy led to Liverpool completing his transfer the following year, where he developed into one of the Premier League’s leading goalscorers.
Salah has continued to represent Egypt at international level. At the 2026 World Cup, he played in all five of Egypt’s possible matches, starting every game, and contributed one goal and two assists.
He joins Trabzonspor with a record of 193 Premier League goals, one Champions League winners’ medal and a free-transfer move from Liverpool completed on 4 August 2026.
