Mbappé-Vinícius feud deepens as tensions engulf Real Madrid

A bitter internal conflict involving Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior has reportedly intensified as the club approaches the end of the 2025-26 campaign, with fresh leaks exposing a fractured atmosphere inside the Santiago Bernabéu dressing room.

The latest revelations suggest that tensions between the two forwards have evolved beyond simple sporting competition and now represent a wider battle for influence, status and control within the club.

According to reports from Spanish television programme El Chiringuito, Mbappé has become increasingly convinced that someone inside the dressing room is leaking details about his personal life and movements to the media. The French forward reportedly believes information about his dinners and outings with friends has been deliberately disclosed in an attempt to damage his image among supporters and the club hierarchy.

Those close to the player claim he feels targeted by a campaign designed to portray him as unprofessional and lacking commitment to the club.

The situation appears to have pushed Mbappé to breaking point, leading to an emotional public response in which he declared: “I confront and say things to their faces, and the others don’t!”

The comment has further fuelled speculation of divisions behind the scenes at the Spanish giants.

At the centre of the reported conflict is the growing rivalry between Mbappé and Vinícius over leadership and prominence within the squad. Sources close to Mbappé reportedly believe the Brazilian winger has been attempting to undermine his integration into the team in order to preserve his position as the club’s leading star.

The dispute has also reportedly extended into coaching matters. Members of Mbappé’s camp are said to believe Vinícius played a role in the earlier departure of coach Xabi Alonso, a development they feel negatively affected the team alongside current coach Álvaro Arbeloa.

Club president Florentino Pérez has attempted to calm the growing unrest by publicly backing Mbappé. In remarks aimed at defending the French striker, Pérez reportedly said: “They’ll write what they will about Mbappe, but he scores more goals than the others.”

Mbappé later echoed a similar sentiment, insisting that goals remain the most important measure of success.

The uncertainty surrounding the club has also increased speculation over the future managerial position at the Bernabéu. With Arbeloa approaching the end of the season, attention has turned toward José Mourinho, who has emerged as the leading candidate to take charge.

Mourinho’s possible return has triggered debate over how he would manage two of football’s biggest personalities within an already tense dressing room.

Observers believe the Portuguese coach could initially attempt to unite the squad by directing their focus toward external criticism from the media or rival clubs. However, Mourinho’s history also suggests he would not hesitate to take firm action if internal disputes continued.

Reports indicate that he could be willing to bench either player regardless of reputation or transfer value if he believes it would restore discipline and balance within the team.

Mbappé’s frustrations reportedly extend beyond his feud with Vinícius. The forward is also said to feel dissatisfied with the way he has been treated by Arbeloa and his coaching staff.

One of the key flashpoints came before the recent Clasico against FC Barcelona, when Mbappé was informed he would begin the match on the bench. The decision reportedly shocked the player, although he later missed the game through injury.

As the season nears its conclusion, the power struggle threatening to divide Real Madrid shows little sign of ending. With uncertainty over the next manager, questions surrounding the futures of both stars and a dressing room reportedly consumed by mistrust, the summer is expected to become a decisive period for the club’s future direction.
