Sky Sports journalist Marchetti believes Internazionale’s three English signings have failed to meet expectations so far this season, leaving head coach Simone Inzaghi to find alternative solutions by changing his line-up.
Speaking during a broadcast, Marchetti said the players could not all be selected at the same time and singled out Curtis Jones as the one who has featured most often.
“These three English players? Internazionale simply can’t field all of them at the same time. Among the three, Curtis Jones has had the most playing time, but honestly, he hasn’t shown anything particularly impressive,” he said.
Marchetti’s assessment comes as Internazionale look to players who had limited opportunities in previous seasons to provide greater balance and consistency.
Yann Bisseck is gradually establishing himself as a regular starter, while Carlos Augusto has returned to a consistent level of form. Petar Sucic has also been performing well, giving Inzaghi further options as he reshapes the team.
The changes suggest the Internazionale manager is not relying solely on the three English players and is instead using the wider squad to address the team’s needs.
Marchetti said opportunities could now open up for other players as the season progresses.
“Next, perhaps it will be Filip Stankovic or those English players who get more opportunities,” he concluded.
