Matvey Safonov earns praise after PSG clean sheet against Lyon

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov was rated 6.5 out of 10 after helping his side beat Lyon 2-0 at home in the French championship on Monday.

Foot Mercato published ratings for the match, with only players who started the game included in the assessment. Safonov was described as a “reliable last line of defence” following another clean sheet for the Parisian side.

The Russian goalkeeper made important saves in the 10th and 31st minutes, as well as another stop shortly afterwards. His performance earned him the second-highest rating among PSG players.

Only Maghnes Akliouche, who received seven, was rated higher for the home side.

PSG’s next match is away to Le Havre on 30 October.

Safonov has also finished fourth in voting for the best goalkeeper in the world.
