Malian full-back Guindo joins Reims on deal until 2031

Stade de Reims have confirmed the signing of Malian international left-back Daouda Guindo, who joins the club on a contract running until 2031 as the French side begin shaping their squad for the future.

The deal represents a significant long-term investment as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options following a challenging campaign.

Guindo arrives from Stade Brestois, where he impressed during a strong season in France’s top flight.

His performances, including appearances alongside Mali teammate Kamory Doumbia, helped raise his profile and attract attention from other clubs within French football.

Although he departs Brest after a promising spell, Guindo now steps into a different challenge with Reims, a club currently competing in Ligue 2.

Reims finished sixth in the 2025–2026 campaign, narrowly missing out on promotion to Ligue 1, and are now aiming to build a squad capable of returning to the top division.

The signing reflects Reims’ clear intent to reinforce key areas of their squad with younger talent capable of long-term development.

By securing Guindo on a contract lasting until 2031, the club has demonstrated both confidence in his potential and commitment to a longer-term rebuilding project.

Guindo is expected to play a central role in the team’s defensive structure, bringing pace, energy and attacking support from the left flank. His experience at both club and international level with Mali is also seen as an important asset as Reims look to balance youth with proven quality.

The move also marks another step in Guindo’s growing career in French football.

Having developed into a consistent performer at Brest, the left-back now faces the task of adapting to a new environment and helping Reims push towards their goal of returning to Ligue 1.

Reims supporters will be hopeful that his arrival signals the beginning of a stronger recruitment drive as the club prepares for the upcoming season.

The focus will now turn to how quickly Guindo can integrate into the squad ahead of pre-season preparations.

With ambitions to climb back into France’s top tier, Reims view Guindo as a key addition in their long-term strategy. His signing underlines a clear message from the club: stability, youth development and gradual progression will form the foundation of their rebuild.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on how the Malian defender settles into his new surroundings and whether he can help drive Reims closer to their return to Ligue 1
