Malian defender Daouda Guindo is set to continue his career in France after agreeing to join French side Stade de Reims on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Stade Brestois.
The 23-year-old is expected to sign a long-term contract with Reims, bringing an end to his brief spell in Brittany after just one season with Brest.
Guindo joined Brest last summer after leaving Red Bull Salzburg at the end of his contract. He quickly established himself as a regular member of the squad, making 26 appearances in all competitions, including 25 outings in Ligue 1.
During his time with Brest, the Mali international contributed one goal and one assist while gaining valuable experience in the French top flight.
Despite enjoying consistent playing time throughout the campaign, neither the player nor the club opted to extend their partnership beyond the initial one-year agreement, paving the way for a new chapter in his career.
Guindo is now expected to join Reims on a five-year contract as the club begins preparations for the new season under recently appointed head coach Nicolas Usai.
The move comes at a crucial moment for Reims, who are determined to bounce back after a disappointing campaign that ended without promotion. Club officials are rebuilding the squad with the aim of securing a return to Ligue 1, and Guindo is expected to play an important role in that project.
For the Malian defender, the switch represents an opportunity to secure long-term stability while remaining in French football and contributing to a club with ambitions of returning to the top tier.
With the deal reportedly close to completion, Guindo now looks set to begin a new challenge as Reims intensify their preparations for the upcoming season.
