Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bradley Barcola over personal terms, but negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain remain ongoing because the French club’s valuation of the winger is still considered high.
Fabrizio Romano said on Monday that the Premier League club had received the player’s “final green light”, with the remaining negotiations focused on a fee between the two clubs.
“Liverpool have the final green light from Bradley Barcola on personal terms.
“The negotiations with PSG over the fee continue as clubs are in direct, official conversation.
“Up to #LFC as PSG valuation remains high.”
Liverpool are looking to strengthen their attacking options before the new season begins in less than two weeks. The club are particularly keen to sign at least one more winger following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
Barcola is one of the attacking players being pursued by Liverpool, with PSG team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye also under consideration. A move for both players would represent a significant reshaping of the club’s wide options under manager Andoni Iraola, who is seeking to add greater pace and threat to his attack.
The proposed deal for Barcola is not yet complete, with Liverpool and PSG still required to reach an agreement over the transfer fee. However, agreement on personal terms represents an important step towards a possible move to Anfield.
Liverpool’s main completed activity so far includes the £35m signing of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz. The club also secured the £55m arrival of Jeremy Jacquet in January, with those deals representing the only significant business completed by the Reds in the current period.
The club have shown a willingness to spend heavily in the transfer market. Twelve months ago, Liverpool broke the British transfer record twice when they signed Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are planning to have five wingers in their squad by the end of the transfer window. If they complete a deal for Barcola, it is considered very likely that Iraola will then make an immediate move for Mbaye.
The interest in both PSG players reflects Liverpool’s desire to rebuild their attacking depth after Salah’s exit. Barcola’s personal agreement means the next stage of the proposed transfer depends on whether Liverpool can meet, or negotiate down, PSG’s valuation.
For now, the clubs remain in direct and official discussions over the fee. Until those talks are resolved, Barcola’s move to Liverpool cannot be considered complete, despite the agreement already reached between the player and the club.
