Barcelona’s formidable home record leaves Getafe facing a historic challenge

Barcelona will look to extend their unbeaten home record against Getafe when the two sides meet at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday in the eighth round of La Liga.

The Catalan club lead the table with a maximum 21 points, while Getafe are 11th on eight points. Barcelona have never lost in 21 home league meetings with Getafe, winning 17 and drawing four.

No other opponent has visited Barcelona as often in the competition without the hosts suffering defeat, with the exception of Elche. Barcelona faced Elche 25 times at home without losing, recording 18 victories and seven draws.

Getafe have lost each of their past eight away matches against Barcelona in La Liga. They have also failed to score in the last four of those games, making it their longest sequence of consecutive defeats against the Catalan club at home in the top flight.

The visitors’ away form this season provides further concern. Getafe have been beaten in all three of their away matches in the 2026-2027 campaign and have failed to score in any of them.

It is the first time in the club’s history in La Liga that they have lost their opening three away games in a single season without finding the net.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have scored 31 goals in their first seven league matches. That is the second-highest total by any side at this stage of a season in the competition’s history. Only Sevilla have scored more, having found the net 40 times in their opening seven matches in 1940-1941.

Milestones and managerial records

Getafe defender Djene Dakonam could reach a notable landmark. The club’s record appearance-maker in the top flight, with 311 matches, currently has 99 league victories in a Getafe shirt and would become the first player to reach 100 wins for the club in the competition.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has also dominated his meetings with Getafe boss Jose Bordalas. Flick has avoided defeat in all four of their La Liga encounters, winning three and drawing one.

No other manager in the competition has faced Flick as many times without beating him. Flick has also played four matches against each of six other managers without suffering defeat.

Bordalas has never won away against Barcelona in La Liga. From his eight visits, he has drawn once and lost seven times.

The only opponent against whom he has played more away matches without winning is Atletico Madrid. Bordalas has also faced Atletico eight times on the road, drawing once and losing seven.
