Lisandro Martinez is expected to be included in Manchester United’s squad for Sunday’s visit to Leeds United after apologising for his public criticism of the club’s hierarchy.
Head coach Michael Carrick said the matter had been settled and that those involved had “moved on” following Martinez’s comments about Manchester United’s lack of investment during the transfer window.
The defender spoke out after Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat by Atletico Madrid. On Thursday, he held talks with members of the club’s hierarchy, including Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada, as well as Carrick, before issuing an apology.
Speaking on Friday ahead of the Leeds match, live on Sky Sports, Carrick said Martinez had accepted responsibility for what he had said.
“He’s released his statement and realised he made a mistake,” Carrick said.
“That’s enough for us to move on with. From our point of view, the acknowledgement of what’s been done is enough to move on.”
