Lennart Karl scores first Champions League goal of season in Bayern Munich win at Atletico Madrid

Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 victory away to Atletico Madrid on 3 November, with Lennart Karl scoring his first Champions League goal of the season.

The 18-year-old opened the scoring in the 54th minute after Tom Bischof’s long-range effort created confusion inside the Atletico penalty area. Le Normand was unable to clear the ball quickly, allowing Karl to win possession from behind before calmly lifting his finish over Oblak.

Karl had already contributed an assist in this season’s competition, setting up a goal during Bayern’s 5-0 victory over Bodø/Glimt. His goal against Atletico was his first in the Champions League this campaign.

With Atletico’s defence proving difficult to break down, Karl’s interception provided the breakthrough. The Bayern academy graduate then completed the move with a composed finish, demonstrating maturity beyond his years.

Karl started the match before being replaced in the 68th minute.
