Lazio lead Serie A alone as Juventus move above Napoli after Round 10

Lazio are alone at the top of the Serie A table after 10 rounds, while Juventus have moved above Napoli following their 2-0 victory on Sunday night.

The round will be completed on Monday, when Sassuolo play Fiorentina and Atalanta face Parma, but Lazio are guaranteed to spend the coming week as the league’s outright leaders.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side came from behind to beat Cagliari 2-1 at home on Sunday. That result took Lazio above Inter, who fell to a 3-1 defeat by Milan in Saturday’s derby.

Lazio have collected 28 points from their opening 10 matches, with nine victories and one draw. It is close to an Italian record for the start of a league season: only Rudi Garcia’s Roma team in 2013-14 had taken more points at this stage, after winning each of their first 10 games, reports Matteo Di Gangi.

Lazio last held sole possession of first place 16 years ago, when they were managed by Edy Reja.

The leading four sides are separated by five points. Inter are second on 25 points, followed by Roma on 24 and Como on 23.

Milan’s derby victory leaves them two points outside the top four. Juventus’ success, meanwhile, lifted them above Napoli and into seventh place.

Juventus are three points behind sixth-placed Frosinone, who have emerged as one of the season’s biggest surprises in Serie A. Napoli drop below Juventus after Sunday’s result.
