LaLiga eyes Morocco for future matches – President

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, has revealed that Spain’s top-flight matches could one day be played in Morocco, pointing to the country’s strong following for Spanish football.

Morocco’s Growing LaLiga Appeal

Speaking in an interview, Tebas highlighted the massive support LaLiga enjoys in Morocco, suggesting it makes the idea both realistic and attractive.

“Given the number of fans who follow the Spanish league in Morocco, I think it would be easier to play in Morocco,” Tebas said.

He added that travel logistics between Spain and Morocco are relatively simple, making the move even more feasible.

Casablanca Stadium Proposed

Tebas specifically mentioned the possibility of hosting a match in Casablanca, referencing the country’s new stadium infrastructure.

“We could consider a match in the new Casablanca stadium. Why not?” he stated.

Partnership Strengthening Ties

The proposal comes after LaLiga signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moroccan National Professional Football League.

The agreement is aimed at boosting cooperation, sharing expertise, and strengthening football development between both nations.

Global Expansion Strategy

LaLiga has long explored hosting matches outside Spain as part of its global expansion plans. Morocco, with its proximity and passionate fanbase, now appears to be a serious contender.

If implemented, it would mark another major step in bringing elite European football closer to African fans.
