Kylian Mbappe is expected to play for Real Madrid against Villarreal in La Liga on 10 October, despite picking up a knee injury while on international duty with France.
The forward flew back to the Spanish capital on the morning of 5 October, according to AS. Real Madrid’s team training session was already under way at Valdebebas when he arrived, meaning Mbappe did not take part.
He was due to report to the club’s training base later in the day and continue with an individual programme.
Mbappe sustained the injury during France’s first match of the international break. After being struck, he felt significant pain in his left knee and asked to be substituted.
The injury is not considered serious and is not expected to prevent him from facing Villarreal. Mbappe is expected to be available for selection and could start the match.
