Kaizer Chiefs are on the brink of signing Zimbabwe international midfielder Jonah Fabisch, who has already arrived in Johannesburg to complete a move to Naturena.
The 24-year-old is understood to be in the final phase of negotiations with the Soweto giants, with only minor contractual details and a medical assessment reportedly standing in the way of the deal being concluded.
“Kaizer Chiefs on the verge of completing Jonah Fabisch signing. Two parties in advanced talks; finer details to be ironed out & deal subject to medical checks. The 24yo midfielder already touched down,“ journalist Hlayisani Magoro of Foot Africa reported, indicating that discussions between Chiefs and the player are at an advanced stage.
If finalised, the transfer would see Fabisch become the latest addition to new head coach Fernando Da Cruz’s midfield as Amakhosi continue a major rebuild ahead of the upcoming Betway Premiership season.

Reports suggest Chiefs have moved swiftly to secure Fabisch, who is currently a free agent after leaving German side FC Erzgebirge Aue.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Fabisch comes from a football family. He is the son of a Zimbabwean mother and the late Reinhard Fabisch, the renowned German coach who enjoyed legendary status in African football, particularly in Zimbabwe.
Fabisch’s formative years were spent in Germany, where he joined the youth academy of Hamburger SV in 2012. He progressed through the ranks of the Bundesliga club’s highly regarded development system before making his senior debut for Hamburger SV II in 2020.
In 2023 he secured a move to 1. FC Magdeburg, and a year later switched to FC Erzgebirge Aue. During the 2025/26 3. Liga campaign with Aue, the defensive midfielder delivered a consistent run of performances, scoring three goals in 30 appearances before his contract expired and he became a free agent.
International switch and Afcon platform
Fabisch initially turned out for Germany at youth level, representing the country at Under-17 and Under-19 age groups. He later opted to represent Zimbabwe at senior level, taking advantage of his eligibility through his mother.
The midfielder made his debut for the Warriors in November 2021 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia. Since then he has grown into a regular selection for the national side.
His performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco drew particular praise. Fabisch started all three of Zimbabwe’s group-stage matches and registered an assist, underlining his importance to the team in a defensive midfield role.
