Ivorien star Axel Tape set to join Levante on season-long loan

Young Bayer Leverkusen defender Axel Tape is set to join Spanish side Levante on loan for the 2026–27 season as he continues his development.

The 19-year-old centre-back has reportedly agreed a temporary move to the newly promoted La Liga club, where he is expected to gain regular first-team experience.

The deal will run for the entire 2026–27 campaign and does not include an option or obligation for Levante to make the transfer permanent.

Tape is expected to return to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

Medical stands between Tape and Levante move

The transfer is now subject to a medical, which Tape is expected to undergo before the move can be officially completed.

If he passes the examination, he will join Levante for their return to Spain’s top flight.

The loan is designed to give Tape valuable senior experience after limited opportunities with Leverkusen last season.

Tape looking for regular first-team football

Tape made six Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen last season as he gained his first significant exposure to senior football.

At 19, the defender is now expected to benefit from regular competitive action in La Liga, with Levante providing him with an opportunity to develop his defensive qualities at the highest level of Spanish football.

For Leverkusen, the loan allows one of their young defenders to continue his development away from the club while remaining under contract.

Tape will be expected to return to Germany after the 2026–27 season with greater experience and a stronger foundation for his future at Bayer Leverkusen.
