Evan Ndicka is enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career, with the defender already setting a new personal scoring record as AS Roma continue their push in both domestic and European competitions.
The Ivorian centre-back added to his tally on Thursday, scoring in Roma’s Europa League outing against Bologna FC 1909.
The goal marked his second in the competition this season and took his overall total to five across all competitions, the highest he has ever recorded in a single campaign.
With several matches still to be played, the 26-year-old could yet extend that tally further, underlining what has already been a breakthrough season in front of goal.
Ndicka’s latest strike not only contributed to Roma’s European campaign but also confirmed a milestone moment in his career.
His five-goal return surpasses his previous best of four goals, which he achieved during the 2021–22 season while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Three of those goals have come in Serie A, with all of them arriving in his last three league appearances, a run of form that highlights his growing influence at both ends of the pitch.
Such consistency has seen Ndicka emerge not just as a defensive presence, but also as a decisive attacking option, particularly during set-piece situations and key moments in matches.
While primarily known for his defensive duties, Ndicka’s contributions this season reflect the evolving role of centre-backs in modern football.
His ability to combine defensive solidity with goal-scoring instinct has made him one of the more dangerous defenders going forward in Europe.
Since the start of his club career, Ndicka has now scored 18 goals, a notable return for a player in his position.
Despite his club success in front of goal, he is yet to score for his national team, Ivory Coast.
Nevertheless, his performances at club level continue to draw attention, with his current campaign standing out as the most productive of his career.
Roma’s strong form has kept them competitive on multiple fronts.
In the league, they currently sit sixth with 51 points, maintaining hopes of securing European qualification for next season.
Roma’s attention now turns back to domestic action, with a league fixture against US Lecce next on the schedule.
For the Ivorian defender, however, the immediate focus will be on maintaining momentum and perhaps adding even more goals to what is already a record-breaking campaign.
