Bayern Munich have taken steps to sign teenage midfielder Bara Joseph Sapoko Ndiaye on a permanent basis after a series of encouraging performances during his loan spell with the German champions.
The 19-year-old Senegal youth international joined Bayern Munich on loan from Gambinos Stars Academy in Banjul last winter, with an option included in the agreement allowing the club to make the move permanent. The Bundesliga side have now opted to activate that clause and are in discussions with his parent club over finalising the transfer.
Ndiaye has made three appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern, who recently secured their 35th league title. Despite his limited game time, the midfielder has done enough to convince the club’s hierarchy of his potential, prompting their decision to pursue a long-term deal.
Negotiations between Bayern and Gambinos Stars Africa are ongoing, with both sides working towards an agreement that would see the teenager remain in Germany beyond the current campaign. Ndiaye’s market value is currently estimated at €300,000, according to Transfermarkt.
The move underlines Bayern’s ongoing strategy of investing in emerging talent from across the globe. The club has increasingly focused on identifying young players with high development potential and integrating them into their system at an early stage.
Ndiaye was initially identified by scouts while he was at Grasshopper Zurich, before making the switch to Bayern on loan. Since then, he has been gradually introduced to top-level football in Germany, gaining experience within one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Sources close to the club suggest that head coach Vincent Kompany is a strong admirer of Ndiaye’s abilities and has supported the decision to retain him. Kompany, who has been tasked with guiding Bayern into a new era, is believed to value the midfielder’s technical qualities and long-term potential.
While Ndiaye is still at an early stage in his career, Bayern’s willingness to commit to a permanent transfer reflects confidence in his future development. The club is expected to continue monitoring his progress closely, with the possibility of increased involvement in the first team as he gains experience.
For Gambinos Stars Academy, the deal represents another example of a young player making the transition to European football, highlighting the growing influence of African academies in supplying talent to top clubs.
As talks progress, Bayern appear determined to secure Ndiaye’s services, signalling their belief that the young midfielder could play a role in the club’s future success.
