Ibrahima Balde: FC Lorient eye move for Rodez and France-Senegal forward

FC Lorient are considering a move for France-Senegal centre-forward Ibrahima Balde from Rodez AF as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new Ligue 1 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who plays as a central striker for Ligue 2 side Rodez, is being monitored by Lorient after his performances in the French second tier attracted top-flight attention. Any deal would involve negotiating with Rodez, with Balde under contract at the club until 30 June 2028.

Lorient are aiming to strengthen their squad with players already acclimatised to French football, and Balde fits that profile having built his reputation in Ligue 2. His age and contractual status at Rodez mean the Ligue 1 side would likely need to present a convincing offer to prise him away.

Balde’s current estimated value stands at around €2 million, a figure that provides a starting point for any potential discussions between the clubs but does not necessarily reflect Rodez’s asking price. Rodez, for their part, are under no immediate pressure to sell given the length of his deal.

The forward’s blend of French and Senegalese nationality adds to his appeal in a market where clubs are increasingly attentive to both domestic quotas and potential future international involvement. For now, Balde remains a key attacking option for Rodez as preparations continue for the new season, with his long-term contract offering the Ligue 2 side a strong negotiating position should Lorient firm up their interest.
