Former Zamalek defender Hossam Abdel-Maguid has formally warned the Egyptian club over unpaid financial dues of about 800,000 Egyptian pounds, with the Ludogorets player prepared to file an official complaint if the matter is not resolved.
Abdel-Maguid has demanded that Zamalek settle the outstanding amount before he takes further steps through the relevant authorities.
The defender’s warning represents a new financial issue for Zamalek, which is already dealing with outstanding payments involving players.
Abdel-Maguid had first attempted to establish the position of his dues with the club’s management, hoping to settle the matter amicably and avoid legal proceedings.
According to a source close to the player, Abdel-Maguid contacted Zamalek officials to ask when his outstanding money would be paid. However, he did not receive a specific date for the payment.
The lack of a clear response prompted the player to send an official warning to the club.
Abdel-Maguid is now waiting for Zamalek’s response and hopes the club will take action to resolve the issue in the coming period.
The player does not want the dispute to develop into a legal case and would prefer to reach an agreement with his former club over the payment of his dues.
However, the warning has left him one step away from submitting a formal complaint if the outstanding amount remains unpaid.
The move is therefore being treated as a preliminary measure before possible legal action, allowing Abdel-Maguid to protect his financial rights while giving Zamalek an opportunity to resolve the matter.
The player’s position is that the issue can still be settled without escalation if the club responds and pays the amount owed to him.
The development comes as Zamalek’s administration continues efforts to reorganise the club’s financial affairs and deal with outstanding payments owed to members of the squad.
The club is seeking to address those financial obligations gradually in an attempt to prevent further disputes, complaints or crises involving players.
For Abdel-Maguid, the priority remains finding a solution without taking the dispute further. He is waiting to see whether Zamalek will respond to his warning and settle the approximately 800,000 Egyptian pounds owed to him.
If the club fails to resolve the matter, the player retains the option of submitting an official complaint to the relevant authorities.
For now, Abdel-Maguid is awaiting the next move from Zamalek, having made clear that he wants his financial rights settled while avoiding an unnecessary dispute with his former club.
