Hannibal, the Tunisia international attacking midfielder currently at Burnley, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille as the French club assess options for their creative department. The 23-year-old, born in Ivry-sur-Seine and also eligible for France, is under contract at Turf Moor until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal would require negotiations with the Championship club rather than a free transfer.
Marseille’s interest comes with Hannibal valued at around €15 million and established as one of Burnley’s key attacking options after their return to the second tier. He joined Burnley on 28 August 2024 and was part of the squad that secured promotion to the top flight in the 2024–25 season before suffering relegation back to the Championship in 2025–26.
On the international stage, Hannibal has recently underlined his status with Tunisia at the 2026 World Cup, starting all three of their matches and registering two assists. That run of full 90-minute appearances has strengthened his profile ahead of the summer window.
Hannibal’s CV already includes silverware at the highest domestic level, having won the English FA Cup in 2024 with Manchester United before his move to Burnley. Comfortable as a right-footed attacking midfielder, he has become a central figure for club and country at a relatively young age.
With two years still remaining on his deal after this summer, Burnley are in a strong position contractually, and there is no indication yet that any agreement with Marseille is close. For now, Hannibal remains a Burnley player preparing for the new Championship campaign under a long-term contract.
