Hamburger SV negotiate for Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi

Hamburger SV are in talks with KRC Genk over a possible move for Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi as the German club looks to strengthen their right-back position.

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Hamburger SV are negotiating with Genk while also holding discussions with Bayer Leverkusen over Arthur.

As of Sunday morning, there was no agreement with Leverkusen for Arthur, with talks continuing on both fronts.

El Ouahdi emerges as alternative target

El Ouahdi, who was born in 2001, has emerged as another option for Hamburger SV during the transfer window.

The Morocco international has attracted interest from several European clubs, having previously been linked with AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven.

Reports earlier this month also suggested that PSV head coach Peter Bosz was interested in bringing the full-back to the Netherlands.

Genk are reportedly demanding between €13 million and €15 million for El Ouahdi and are understood to be unwilling to lower their valuation significantly.

That asking price could prove decisive as Hamburger SV weigh up their options for the position.

Genk face another potential departure

El Ouahdi could become the latest Genk player to leave the club for a major European league.

Genk have already seen Greek-born prospect Konstantinos Karetsas depart for Borussia Dortmund in a deal reportedly worth around €35 million.

The Belgian club will therefore be keen to secure a significant fee if El Ouahdi also leaves this summer.

Hamburger SV considering two options

Hamburger SV’s negotiations for El Ouahdi and Arthur remain separate, with neither transfer finalised.

The German club are attempting to make progress on both deals before deciding which option can ultimately be completed.

For now, talks remain ongoing with both Genk and Leverkusen as Hamburger SV seek to reinforce their right-back position ahead of the new campaign.
