Achraf Hakimi is facing a fitness concern after finishing Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Bayern Munich in visible discomfort.
The defender appeared to struggle physically during the closing stages of the game, continuing to play despite suffering from muscle cramps after PSG had already used all of their substitutions.
In an unusual tactical move, Hakimi temporarily shifted from his usual right-back role into a more advanced attacking position as the team sought to see out the match.
Following the final whistle, PSG captain Marquinhos played down initial concerns over the defender’s condition.
“He told me it was just cramps in his thigh. We’ll see.”
However, head coach Luis Enrique was less definitive when asked about the situation, indicating that further assessment would be required.
“I don’t know anything about Hakimi’s condition at the moment.
We’ll see on Wednesday what his situation is, but I can’t confirm anything right now,” he said.
The uncertainty has prompted attention beyond club level, with Morocco’s national team closely monitoring developments.
Sources indicate that Mohamed Ouahbi has already contacted Hakimi to check on his condition, particularly as this represents a second recent physical concern for the player.
In addition, national team doctor Christophe Baudot is expected to liaise with PSG’s medical staff to obtain further details about the defender’s fitness.
The timing of the issue has added to concern, coming less than two months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
Hakimi has had a demanding schedule in recent months, featuring in multiple competitions including the Club World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, before continuing a busy domestic and European campaign with PSG.
His workload has placed him at the centre of both club and international commitments, increasing the importance of careful management of his fitness.
With PSG pursuing success in the latter stages of the Champions League and Morocco preparing for the World Cup, both sides are expected to monitor his condition closely.
Further medical examinations are likely to determine whether the issue is limited to cramping or if there is a more serious injury that could lead to a spell on the sidelines.
