Smouha End 10-Match Winless Run With Victory Over Tala’ea El Gaish

Smouha ended a 10-match wait for an Egyptian Premier League victory after Mohamed Said “Makrona” secured a 1-0 win over Tala’ea El Gaish in the fifth round.

The victory was Smouha’s first league triumph in 10 matches, a run that stretched back into the previous season.

Before Saturday’s result, Smouha had suffered nine defeats and recorded one draw during the difficult sequence, leaving them under pressure to turn their fortunes around.

Makrona provided the breakthrough in the 62nd minute, rising to head home and give Smouha a lead they would hold until the final whistle.

The goal was particularly significant for the forward, marking his first since he scored against Al Ittihad Al Sakandary on May 14, 2024, during the 2023-24 campaign.

His header ultimately proved enough to deliver a much-needed three points for Smouha and bring an end to their prolonged run without a league win.

The result moves Smouha onto four points from their opening five matches and up to 16th place in the Egyptian Premier League standings.

Tala’ea El Gaish, meanwhile, remain seventh with seven points after suffering their latest defeat.

For Smouha, the victory provides a timely boost as they look to build momentum and climb away from the lower end of the table.
