Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy tipped to lead Dortmund against Bodø/Glimt

Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy is expected to lead Borussia Dortmund’s attack when the German side travel to Norway to face Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, 14 October.

Dortmund will aim to build on their opening-day victory over Villarreal, while Bodø/Glimt are seeking a response after suffering a heavy defeat against Bayern Munich in their first match.

The Norwegian club lost 5-0 to Bayern and will be hoping home advantage can help them recover in the second matchday fixture.

Dortmund, meanwhile, began their European campaign with a 3-2 win over Villarreal, with Guirassy scoring twice in that encounter.

Both teams are expected to make tactical adjustments as they prepare for the meeting, with Dortmund set to be without defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who will not travel to Norway because of workload management concerns.

Dortmund manager Niko Kovač is expected to retain the 3-4-2-1 formation used against Villarreal as his side look to secure another Champions League victory.

Guirassy is tipped to start as the central striker after his two-goal performance in the opening match.

Marcel Sabitzer and Konstantinos Karetsas are expected to operate behind the Guinea international, providing support in attack as Dortmund seek to maintain their scoring threat.

In midfield, Joey Veerman and Felix Nmecha are projected to start, while Julian Ryerson and Daniel Svensson could feature in the wide positions.

Ryerson’s return from injury provides Dortmund with another option as they prepare for the trip to Norway.

At the back, Gregor Kobel is expected to start in goal, with Waldemar Anton, Joane Gadou and Daniel Svensson among the projected defensive options.

However, Schlotterbeck’s absence means Dortmund will have to make adjustments to their defensive plans.

Dortmund will nevertheless travel with confidence after their opening victory, knowing another positive result would strengthen their start to the competition.

Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen is expected to maintain his preferred 4-3-3 formation as the Norwegian club attempt to recover from their 5-0 loss to Bayern Munich.

Nikita Haikin is projected to start in goal, while Fredrik Sjøvold and Fredrik André Bjørkan are expected to occupy the full-back positions.

Villads Nielsen and Haitam Aleesami could form the central defensive partnership, with Aleesami tipped to replace Odin Lurås Bjørtuft, who is suspended following his sending-off against Bayern.

Patrick Berg is expected to anchor the midfield alongside Joshua Kitolano and Sondre Brunstad Fet.

The trio will be tasked with helping Bodø/Glimt compete against Dortmund’s midfield and provide a platform for the attacking players.

Up front, Sondre Auklend and Ole Didrik Blomberg are expected to support Andreas Helmersen, who scored in Bodø/Glimt’s 3-1 victory over Kristiansund last weekend.

That domestic result offers encouragement as the Norwegian side prepare for their European assignment, although they will need a stronger defensive performance than they produced against Bayern if they are to challenge Dortmund.

Bodø/Glimt are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, while Dortmund are tipped to continue with a 3-4-2-1 system.

Predicted line-ups

Bodø/Glimt (4-3-3): Haikin; Sjøvold, Villads Nielsen, Aleesami, Bjørkan; Kitolano, Berg, Fet; Auklend, Helmersen, Blomberg.

Borussia Dortmund (3-4-2-1): Kobel; Anton, Gadou, Svensson; Ryerson, Veerman, Nmecha, Daniel Svensson; Sabitzer, Karetsas; Guirassy.
