Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have secured a record-extending 22nd league title after being officially crowned champions of the FKF Premier League on the final day of the season.
K’Ogalo lifted the trophy on Sunday despite ending their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Nairobi United at Nyayo National Stadium.
The title celebrations were highlighted by the presence of Michael Olunga, who presented the league trophy during the post-match ceremony. The Harambee Stars captain, a former Gor Mahia striker, returned to honour the club’s latest domestic triumph in front of a capacity crowd.
Gor Mahia’s latest success further cements their status as Kenya’s most decorated football club, extending their own record for the most league championships in the country’s history.
As champions, K’Ogalo will pocket KSh15 million (about $116,000) in prize money and secure a place in next season’s CAF Champions League, where they will represent Kenya on the continental stage.
The title-winning campaign marks another significant chapter in Gor Mahia’s storied history as they continue their dominance of Kenyan football.
