Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was involved in a heated exchange with a Liverpool supporter after being targeted by abuse at Anfield.
The visiting players were met by boos, chants and banners during their warm-up, with some of the messages referring to alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules by Manchester City.
The hostile atmosphere continued throughout the match and remained after the final whistle.
As Donnarumma made his way towards the tunnel after the game, several Liverpool fans began shouting insults at the Italy goalkeeper, calling him a “cheat”.
Donnarumma reacted immediately, turning towards the stands and appearing visibly angry. He then became involved in a direct verbal exchange with one of the supporters.
The confrontation was brought under control after members of Manchester City’s staff intervened, preventing the situation from escalating further.
