Ghana midfielder Yirenkyi ‘waiting for a bid’, says Nordsjaelland director

Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi could be approaching a move to one of Europe’s leading leagues after FC Nordsjaelland’s sporting director suggested the club is waiting for an offer that reflects the player’s value.

Alexander Riget indicated that the 20-year-old has reached a stage in his development where a transfer could become a realistic possibility, following his progress through the Danish club’s academy into the senior side.

Yirenkyi has established himself as one of Nordsjaelland’s most promising young midfielders after impressing with his composure, passing ability and control in the centre of the pitch. His performances have reportedly attracted growing attention from clubs across Europe, although no potential suitors have been identified.

While there is no certainty over when a transfer could happen, the report suggests a move during the January transfer window or next summer remains possible if a club submits an acceptable bid.

Speaking about the midfielder’s future, Riget outlined the club’s long-term vision for developing young players before they move to Europe’s biggest competitions.

“When we take players like Caleb, we want to develop them so that they can play in the big leagues. We are almost there with Caleb now.”

The comments underline Nordsjaelland’s reputation for nurturing young talent before allowing players to progress to higher-profile leagues.

Yirenkyi has spent several years developing within the club’s academy system and has steadily earned opportunities with the first team. Operating primarily as a deep-lying midfielder, he has been recognised for his calmness in possession, his vision and his willingness to carry the ball forward from deep areas.

Those qualities have helped raise his profile, with the report noting that observers have drawn comparisons between his style of play and some of Europe’s established midfielders. As his development continues, expectations are growing that he could follow the pathway taken by several former Nordsjaelland players who have secured moves to major European clubs.

Nordsjaelland’s success in producing young talent has been closely linked to its long-standing partnership with Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy. The collaboration has created a pathway for talented Ghanaian footballers to continue their development in Denmark before potentially moving on to larger clubs across Europe.

Several graduates of the partnership have already established careers in some of Europe’s top leagues, and Yirenkyi is viewed as another player capable of making that transition.

For now, however, both player and club appear focused on his continued development rather than rushing a transfer.

Nordsjaelland are expected to seek a deal that reflects the midfielder’s growing reputation should an offer arrive, while Yirenkyi’s immediate priority is likely to remain his progress on the pitch.

Although no clubs have publicly declared an interest and no negotiations have been confirmed, Riget’s remarks suggest the Danish side believe the Ghana international is nearing the point where he can take the next step in his career.

Should his upward trajectory continue, Yirenkyi could soon become the latest graduate of the Nordsjaelland and Right to Dream pathway to secure a move to one of Europe’s leading leagues, marking another milestone in the development of one of Ghana’s highly regarded young footballers.
