Galatasaray striker Osimhen back in training after injury

Victor Osimhen has resumed gym training following surgery on his right forearm, raising hopes of a timely return ahead of a crucial domestic fixture later this month.

The Nigerian striker, who plays for Galatasaray, is currently undergoing closely monitored rehabilitation, according to the club. Medical staff are supervising his workouts as part of a structured recovery programme designed to restore fitness without risking further injury.

Osimhen sustained the injury during a high-intensity encounter in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match against Liverpool last month. The incident forced him to undergo surgery shortly afterwards, ruling him out of several key matches during a decisive period of the season.

Despite the setback, there is growing optimism within the club that the forward will be fit in time for the highly anticipated Intercontinental Derby against fierce rivals Fenerbahçe. The match is widely regarded as one of the most significant fixtures in Turkish football and could have major implications for the title race.

Club officials confirmed that Osimhen has already begun light gym work under the guidance of physiotherapists. While no exact date has been set for his return, the expectation is that he could be available before the end of the month if his recovery continues on schedule.

Osimhen’s absence has been felt, though Galatasaray have managed to maintain their strong position at the top of the table. They currently lead the Turkish Super Lig with 64 points, holding a four-point advantage over second-placed Fenerbahçe.

The potential return of the striker is likely to provide a significant boost to Galatasaray’s attacking options as they push to secure the league title. Known for his pace, strength, and goal-scoring ability, Osimhen has been a key figure in the club’s campaign this season.

The upcoming derby clash is expected to draw intense attention, with both teams vying not only for local bragging rights but also for a decisive edge in the championship race. A fully fit Osimhen could prove pivotal in shaping the outcome of the contest.

For now, the focus remains on his rehabilitation, with club medical staff taking a cautious approach to ensure a complete recovery. Supporters will be watching closely as one of their star players works his way back to match fitness ahead of one of the season’s defining fixtures.
