Gabbia’s 2026 season over after Milan defender suffers thigh injury

Medical tests have confirmed that Milan defender Gabbia has suffered an injury to the muscle in his left thigh, accompanied by partial tendon damage.

The setback is expected to rule Gabbia out for the rest of the season and leaves the rossoneri facing a serious defensive crisis, according to derbyderbyderby.it.

Milan now have two possible treatment options. Conservative management would involve rest and rehabilitation, offering a shorter recovery period but less certainty over the outcome. The alternative is surgery, a more radical approach that would involve a greater intervention.

Gabbia responded to the diagnosis with an emotional message on social media. He thanked his family, friends and team-mates for their support, while promising to return to the San Siro as soon as possible.

The defender also confirmed that his football in 2026 is over.
