Francesco Totti says he would have welcomed the chance to play under current Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini, insisting the Italian coach’s demanding training methods would not have frightened him.
The former Roma forward, who celebrated his 50th birthday in late September, ended his playing career in 2017 after becoming one of the club’s most celebrated figures.
Gasperini took charge of the Rome-based side in the summer of last year. Totti said he would have been happy to work with the experienced manager during his playing days.
“I would not have been frightened by Gasperini’s tough training,” Totti said.
Totti spent his entire senior club career with Roma and remains closely associated with the club, while Gasperini is the current head coach of the Serie A side.
