Les Bleus resumed preparations at their training base west of Boston after being given a day off following Thursday’s 2-0 quarter-final victory over Morocco.
Mbappé and Tchouaméni back in training
Mbappé, who picked up an ankle knock late in the win over the Atlas Lions, completed both the warm-up and the full training session, easing concerns over his availability for Tuesday’s semi-final.
The France captain had already downplayed the injury after the match, insisting it was not a serious problem.
There was more good news for head coach Didier Deschamps as midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni also returned to training after missing the quarter-final victory over Morocco with a thigh injury.
Saliba and Upamecano managed before Spain clash
The only players absent from Saturday’s session were first-choice central defenders Saliba and Upamecano.
Saliba has been carefully managing a back problem throughout the tournament and has missed several training sessions as part of an individual programme designed to keep him fit for matches.
According to L’Équipe, Upamecano was rested as part of France’s load management strategy after experiencing foot discomfort during the competition.
Despite missing training, both defenders are expected to be available for the semi-final against Spain.
France prepare for decisive semi-final
France are scheduled to train again on Sunday morning before travelling to Dallas later in the day for one of the biggest matches of the tournament.
With Mbappé and Tchouaméni back on the training pitch and Saliba and Upamecano expected to recover in time, Deschamps is likely to have almost his full squad available as France bid to overcome Spain and secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
