Fosu-Mensah hails Manchester United revival under Michael Carrick

Former Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah has praised the club’s resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick, saying the team is finally showing signs of returning to its traditional standards after a strong finish to the season.

United concluded the campaign in third place, securing a return to the UEFA Champions League and sparking renewed optimism among supporters after a challenging period.

Fosu-Mensah believes the improvement reflects a clearer tactical identity and better performances in key fixtures, particularly against rivals such as Manchester City and Arsenal. He highlighted those matches as early indicators that Carrick’s influence had begun to take hold.

The former defender also suggested that Carrick’s impact was already evident from his time on the coaching staff under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, where he was widely regarded as one of the more influential figures behind the scenes.

A key positive for Fosu-Mensah has been the integration of younger players into the first team setup, which he says aligns with Manchester United’s long-standing philosophy of developing talent alongside competing for major trophies.

He described the return to Champions League football as essential for a club of United’s stature, insisting that the progress made under Carrick shows the team is heading in the right direction again.

For Fosu-Mensah, the combination of improved results, stronger performances in big matches, and youth development signals a renewed sense of stability and ambition at Old Trafford as the club looks to build on its momentum next season.
