Fiorentina defender Marin Pongracic sidelined by right thigh injury

Marin Pongracic will miss time for Fiorentina after medical examinations confirmed a problem with the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh.

The 29-year-old Croatia defender sustained the injury during Fiorentina’s 2-1 defeat by Inter in the eighth round of the Italian championship.

Fiorentina said Pongracic had begun the prescribed treatment and rehabilitation programme. The club added that his condition would be reviewed again in the coming weeks, with no recovery timeline confirmed at this stage.

Pongracic has played seven matches for Fiorentina this season and has scored once.
