Como complete late comeback at Torino as Nico Paz inspires 3-1 victory

Como came from behind with three late goals to beat Torino 3-1, overturning Che Adams’ first-half opener as Jacobo Ramon, Nico Paz and Martin Baturina struck in the closing stages.

The result ended Torino’s run of three consecutive Serie A victories, with Como finally turning their possession and pressure into goals after trailing for most of the match.

Como had recently beaten Manchester United 4-1 away in the Champions League, but their injury problems continued. Moise Kean, Mattia Liberali, Jesus Rodriguez, Assane Diao and Trevoh Chalobah were unavailable.

Torino were also without Rolando Mandragora, who joined Niccolo Fortini, Ricardo Rodriguez and Franco Israel on the absentee list.

Tasos Douvikas thought he had an early chance to mark his new contract with a goal, but he was offside after five minutes when he ran on to Lucas Da Cunha’s pass.

Torino responded through Rafik Belghali, whose powerful angled effort was blocked by Robert Sanchez’s chest at the near post. Como then appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty after Daniel Braganca caught Lucas Da Cunha on the ankle while he chased Nico Paz’s clipped pass. Neither the referee nor VAR awarded a spot-kick.

Nikola Vlasic tested Sanchez at the near post before Torino took the lead. Kian Fitz-Jim dispossessed Jacobo Ramon as Como attempted to play out from the back, and Che Adams finished first time from eight yards after being found by a low cross.

Douvikas soon saw an effort squirm under Lucas Perri, while Ramon’s close-range header also forced the Torino goalkeeper into action. Da Cunha then sent a shot narrowly wide of the near post.

Como continued to threaten after the interval. Luis Milla fired wide from distance, while Maxence Caqueret came closest when his difficult-angle attempt from the right struck the crossbar in the 54th minute.

Torino remained dangerous on the counter-attack. Belghali brought another save from Sanchez at the near post, and the goalkeeper then tipped Giovanni Simeone’s powerful header on to the crossbar from the resulting corner.

Pietro Comuzzo nearly turned Yan Couto’s cross into his own net, but Perri made a full-stretch save. Como were also denied by the woodwork when Martin Baturina’s cross-shot bounced off the top of the bar.

The equaliser finally arrived in the 81st minute. Nico Paz delivered towards the back post, where Ramon met the ball with a cushioned header from close range.

Como pushed for more rather than settling for a point. Paz sent a low effort just wide before putting the visitors ahead in the 87th minute, heading in Yan Couto’s cross from the right.

Torino then collapsed in added time. Baturina pressured a tiring Vlasic into a mistake on the edge of the penalty area, shrugged off the attempted challenge and swept the ball past Perri with the inside of his right foot from 10 yards.

Torino 1-3 Como: Adams 24, Ramon 81, Nico Paz 87, Baturina 92.
