FC Basel complete signing of Italian-Senegalese talent Asane Sow

FC Basel 1893 have officially secured the signing of promising Italian-Senegalese winger Asane Sow from Italian side FC Pro Vercelli 1892 on a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old attacker has signed a four-year contract with the Swiss Super League club, keeping him at Basel until 2030 as he takes the next major step in his young career.

According to reports, Basel completed the deal for a transfer fee of approximately €600,000, moving quickly to capture one of the emerging talents from Italy’s Serie C.

Born in Seriate, Italy, to Senegalese parents, Sow possesses dual citizenship and is regarded as a dynamic attacking player capable of operating on both wings or in a more central role. His pace, creativity, and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations have made him a highly-rated prospect.

During his time with Pro Vercelli, Sow developed into an important player, recording seven goals and seven assists in 53 competitive appearances across youth and senior football.

FC Basel’s technical director Andreas Herrmann highlighted the club’s long-term vision for the young winger, explaining that the plan is to gradually integrate him into the first-team setup while allowing him time to adapt to the demands of the Swiss Super League.

The move marks Sow’s first experience outside Italy and presents a significant opportunity to continue his development in a league known for giving young talents a platform to grow.

Pro Vercelli confirmed the transfer and thanked the player for his contribution to the club, wishing him success as he begins a new chapter of his career in Switzerland.

With his speed, technical quality and potential, Sow arrives at FC Basel as a player viewed as a long-term investment and one who could become an important figure for the club in the years ahead.
