Enock Kwateng: France-Ghana defender leaves Botev Plovdiv to become free agent

France-Ghana right-back Enock Kwateng has left Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv and is now a free agent after his contract with the efbet Liga club came to an end. The 29-year-old defender, whose market value is currently listed at around €300,000, departs the Plovdiv outfit after a year in Bulgaria.

Kwateng joined Botev Plovdiv in July 2025 and featured in the Bulgarian top flight following previous spells in France and Turkey. His exit leaves him unattached for the new season, opening the door to a next move in a career that has already taken in more than 100 appearances in Ligue 1.

Born in Mantes-la-Jolie and eligible for both France and Ghana, Kwateng made his name at FC Nantes, progressing through their youth system from 2012 before stepping up to the first team in 2015. He later moved to Bordeaux on a free transfer in 2019, adding further top-flight experience in France.

Across his time in Ligue 1, the 1.81m right-back has amassed over 6,600 minutes, contributing two goals and two assists from defence. In addition to his domestic career, he enjoyed success at youth international level, winning the European Under-19 Championship with France in 2016.

After subsequent spells without a club and a stint in Turkey with Ankaragucu, Kwateng’s departure from Botev Plovdiv once again places him on the open market as an experienced free agent defender.
