Emmanuel Addai: Ghana winger seals OH Leuven move after Qarabag title win

Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai has joined Belgian side OH Leuven on a free transfer from Qarabag after signing a contract until 30 June 2029.

The 24-year-old left-sided attacker arrives in the Jupiler Pro League as a recent Azerbaijani champion, having helped Qarabag secure the Premyer Liqa title in the 2024-25 season. His switch to Leuven comes with the Belgian club not paying a transfer fee, despite Addai being valued at around €1.2 million earlier this summer.

Addai, who prefers to operate as a left winger but is right-footed, was born in Kumasi and stands at 1.73m. He will wear the number 7 shirt at his new club, underlining the expectation that he will feature prominently in OH Leuven’s attacking plans.

The move also marks a step into a more prominent European league for the Ghanaian, following his success in Azerbaijan with Qarabag. His performances there culminated in a league title in 2024-25, the first major honour of his career.

By committing Addai to a deal through to 2029, OH Leuven have secured a long-term option on their flank as they shape their squad for the coming seasons.
