Eloghosa Newton Sunday: Nigerian teenager seals Unipomezia move from Verona U18

Nigerian centre-forward Eloghosa Newton Sunday has joined Italian side Unipomezia from Verona U18, completing a move that takes the 17-year-old into senior football in Serie D – Group F.

Sunday makes the switch within the Italian system after developing in Verona’s under-18 ranks, and his transfer gives Unipomezia a youthful option at the heart of their attack ahead of the new campaign. The deal sees him step up from age-group competition into the national fourth tier, where he will compete against senior defences for the first time.

Primarily a central striker, Sunday arrives having spent his formative years in Verona’s youth set-up, where he featured at Under-18 level in Italy. The move marks his first transfer between Italian clubs and represents a change in environment from academy football to the demands of a first-team group.

Unipomezia, who operate in Serie D – F, have been looking to add depth in forward areas and have turned to the Nigeria youth to increase their options in the final third. Sunday’s age means he will be eligible for any club under-age quotas while also being available for regular senior selection.

The transfer was completed on 27 July 2026, with Sunday now registered as a Unipomezia player for their upcoming Serie D campaign.
