Morocco U20 face Egypt on Saturday, 3 October, in a decisive UNAF tournament encounter that could secure their qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations U20.
The match is the fourth round of the regional competition, which determines the two teams that will represent the UNAF zone at the tournament in Ghana.
Egypt are top of the standings with six points from two matches, while Morocco are second on four points. The meeting is therefore a contest between the tournament’s leading sides, with both teams still in contention for qualification.
The game will be played at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 in Morocco, 19:00 in France and 20:00 in Egypt.
The match will be shown on the UNAF YouTube account. It will also be broadcast free-to-air in Morocco by Arryadia and in Egypt by ON Sport.
Morocco began their campaign with a goalless draw against Tunisia after receiving a bye in the opening round. They then produced an improved performance to beat Algeria 3-1, with Sami Bouhoudane, Mohamed Moncef and Ilyas El Haddaoui scoring for the Lionceaux de l’Atlas.
Ludovic Batelli’s side currently lead Algeria on goal difference, with both teams having four points, although Algeria have played three matches. Tunisia have two points, while Libya are yet to register a point.
The qualification permutations are clear for Morocco. Victory against Egypt would guarantee their place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations U20 before their final match against Libya on Tuesday, 6 October.
A draw would leave Morocco in a strong position ahead of that closing fixture, while defeat would mean qualification could not be decided until the final day.
Egypt, meanwhile, will look to maintain their perfect record in the tournament and strengthen their position at the top of the table. Their advantage over Morocco is currently two points, but the result in Ismailia could significantly alter the qualification picture.
The two highest-ranked teams in the mini-league will earn places at the Africa Cup of Nations U20 in Ghana.
