Trabzonspor consider January move for Al Ahli midfielder Artem Bondarenko

Trabzonspor are considering a January move for Al Ahli midfielder Artem Bondarenko, with the Turkish club preparing to assess the Ukraine international before deciding whether to open formal negotiations.

The 26-year-old joined Al Ahli with expectations that he would make a significant impact, but he did not receive a strong reception from the club’s supporters and produced a disappointing display on his first appearance. His start to life in Saudi Arabia has therefore raised the possibility of a departure during the next transfer window.

According to Turkish newspaper Taka Gazete, Trabzonspor are gathering more information about Bondarenko’s situation and are examining whether a deal could be reached in January.

The club is reportedly planning to send scouts to Saudi Arabia to watch Bondarenko in an Al Ahli match. Their assessment of his technical level will help determine whether they proceed with formal talks with the Saudi club.

Bondarenko has previously confirmed that he received an offer from Trabzonspor. However, discussions did not lead to an agreement at the time, although the player was open to moving to the Turkish league.

The midfielder can operate as a playmaker, in central midfield or on the right wing. He also has extensive experience with Shakhtar Donetsk, for whom he made 169 official appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 29 assists.
