Enppi have been plunged into an unexpected administrative crisis just days before a pivotal Egyptian Premier League encounter against Zamalek, with senior figures departing the club in the lead-up to Monday’s fixture.
The match, scheduled to take place at Cairo Stadium at 5:00 PM local time, arrives at a critical stage in the competition, as teams battle for both the league title and qualification places for continental tournaments. However, Enppi’s preparations have been overshadowed by the sudden exit of their football director and team administrator.
Club chairman Ayman Al-Shari’i confirmed the development, revealing that the departures occurred shortly before the highly anticipated fixture. The timing has raised concerns over the team’s internal stability as they prepare to face one of the league’s strongest contenders.
Speaking about the situation, Al-Shari’i said: “The football director and the team administrator have indeed left, but two days before the match. Walid Ramadan (the administrative director of the youth sector) has been assigned to take over the responsibility temporarily during the current period.”
He further emphasised that the decision was rooted in maintaining discipline within the club’s structure, stating: “Any error within the system and the system is a general breach, which I absolutely do not accept. I settled the matter because of the team’s commitment to facing Zamalek, nothing more, but the departure of the administrative staff came to preserve the system.”
Despite the disruption, club officials have sought to reassure supporters that the situation will not impact on-field performance. An internal source indicated that Enppi have already met their primary objective for the season by securing a place in the championship group, and are now focusing on showcasing players for potential transfers.
“The club’s management is confident that the team and coaching staff will not be affected by the departure of the football director and the administrative staff, as Ayman Al-Shari’i is keen to support and assist the players during the coming period,” the source added.
The fixture itself carries significant weight within the broader title race. It takes place just hours before another major showdown between Pyramids and Al Ahly, with all three sides competing for top honours and coveted African Champions League qualification spots.
Zamalek, meanwhile, enter the contest with clear intent, aiming to strengthen their push to reclaim the league title after missing out in the past three seasons. Victory over Enppi would significantly boost their chances in what has become a tightly contested championship phase.
