Cameroon international Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe has joined Schalke 04 from Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent transfer, signing a contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2028.
The 25-year-old midfielder becomes part of Schalke’s plans as the club prepares for its return to Germany’s top flight. The club confirmed the signing on Friday, with Dina Ebimbe set to wear the number 29 shirt.
Schalke have reportedly paid €1m for the versatile player, who spent the 2025-26 season on loan at French top-flight side Stade Brestois.
His arrival gives Schalke another experienced option as they look to build a squad capable of establishing itself in the Bundesliga following promotion.
Dina Ebimbe began his career at Paris Saint-Germain, coming through the club’s academy before making his way into senior football.
He joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and spent several seasons with the German club.
His time at Frankfurt included appearances in the Champions League and Bundesliga, giving him experience of playing at the highest level of European football.
In the Bundesliga, Dina Ebimbe has recorded 14 scorer points in 57 appearances.
The move to Brest last season was intended to provide him with more regular playing time.
His spell in France allowed the Cameroon international to regain his form before returning to Germany for the next stage of his career.
Now, rather than returning to Frankfurt, he will remain in Germany with Schalke, who have secured his services on a deal running until 30 June 2028.
Dina Ebimbe can operate in midfield and on the right side, offering Schalke flexibility as they prepare for the demands of top-flight football.
The Cameroon international has made three appearances for his country and, despite being born in France, has chosen to represent the Indomitable Lions at international level.
His versatility is expected to be particularly valuable to Schalke as the club attempts to put together a competitive squad for its Bundesliga campaign.
Speaking after completing the move, Dina Ebimbe said he was eager to begin working with his new team.
“It feels good to now be part of the team and to return to the Bundesliga with Schalke. The management made a real effort to sign me. From our discussions, I know exactly what is expected of me. I am here to get stuck in and help the team.”
For Schalke, the signing represents another step in their preparations for life back in the German top flight.
The club’s decision to bring in a player with previous Bundesliga and Champions League experience reflects its desire to avoid simply returning to the division and instead build a team capable of competing at the highest level.
Dina Ebimbe, meanwhile, gets the opportunity to revive his Bundesliga career after a season away in France.
His development began at PSG before taking him to Frankfurt, Brest and now Schalke.
At 25, the Cameroon international enters the latest phase of his career with experience of several major European competitions already behind him.
