Burkinabe goalkeeper Hervé Koffi has been confirmed as the most decisive shot-stopper in Ligue 1 this season after making a league-high 123 saves, according to official statistics published by the French top flight.
The Angers SCO goalkeeper finished well clear of his closest rival, Mike Penders, who recorded 108 saves, underlining Koffi’s influence throughout the 2025–2026 campaign.
The figures highlight a remarkable individual season for the 28-year-old, who played a central role in Angers’ survival in France’s top division.
His performances between the posts consistently kept his side competitive in difficult matches, often making the difference in tight encounters.
Over the course of 30 league appearances, Koffi also kept 10 clean sheets, a record that placed him third among all Ligue 1 goalkeepers in terms of shutouts this season.
His consistency and shot-stopping ability have made him one of the standout African performers in European football this year.
Despite his statistical dominance, Koffi’s season has not been without controversy.
The Burkinabe international was left out of the shortlist for the UNFP Goalkeeper of the Year award, a decision that surprised many observers given his performances across the campaign.
However, he was recognised domestically by his club, being voted Angers SCO’s player of the season, and was also nominated for the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé award, which honours the best African player in Ligue 1.
The latest rankings published by Ligue 1 appear to reinforce his status as one of the league’s most influential players, particularly in a season where Angers relied heavily on his contributions to remain competitive.
Koffi’s 123 saves placed him comfortably ahead of the rest of the league’s goalkeepers.
Behind Mike Penders in second place came veteran Anthony Lopes with 98 saves, followed by Donovan Léon on 96 and Jonathan Fischer on 94.
The statistics underline not only Koffi’s shot-stopping volume but also his importance to a team that often came under sustained pressure throughout the season.
For Burkina Faso, Koffi’s form will be a major boost ahead of upcoming international competitions, as he continues to establish himself as one of the most reliable African goalkeepers playing in Europe’s top leagues.
