Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been criticised after liking a social media post which said: “Never push a loyal person to the point where they no longer care.”
The midfielder’s activity was highlighted after manager Michael Carrick left him on the bench for Manchester United’s match against Bournemouth.
Manchester Evening News published a screenshot showing Fernandes had liked the message. The newspaper’s journalist also raised a question about the timing of the interaction, although the article did not include the wording of that question.
The journalist acknowledged that Fernandes’ frustration was understandable, given that he had spent the best years of his career at a club which continues to decline. However, they also argued that the Portugal international had first let Carrick down and was now behaving similarly to Alejandro Garnacho, who had previously voiced his dissatisfaction publicly over his position within the team.
Fernandes had already criticised aspects of Manchester United’s approach after last week’s 4-1 defeat by Como in the Champions League. His comments focused on the tactics used during the match.
Manchester United then faced Bournemouth on Sunday without their captain and suffered a 3-0 defeat.
