Bournemouth have reportedly rejected two offers from Barcelona for French striker of Ivorian descent Éli Junior Kroupi, with the Premier League club determined to retain one of their brightest young talents.
According to L’Équipe, the combined value of Barcelona’s two bids was below €100 million, leading Bournemouth to reject both proposals as the Spanish champions continue their search for attacking reinforcements.
Barcelona line up Kroupi as alternative
Barcelona reportedly view Kroupi as an alternative option should they fail to secure the signing of Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid.
The 20-year-old, who is under contract with Bournemouth until 2030, is said to have welcomed Barcelona’s interest and has reportedly informed his representatives that he would like to join the La Liga champions.
Bournemouth stand firm
Despite the player’s reported willingness to move, Bournemouth remain adamant that Kroupi is not available for transfer.
Club officials are understood to have repeatedly made it clear that they have no intention of selling the former Lorient forward during the current transfer window.
However, the report suggests the situation could change if Barcelona return with a substantially improved offer.
Outstanding first Premier League season
Kroupi has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attackers following an impressive debut campaign with Bournemouth.
The French forward scored 13 league goals in 33 appearances, performances that have attracted interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs.
For now, Bournemouth remain firm in their position, but Barcelona could test the club’s resolve again if they decide to submit a significantly higher offer before the transfer window closes.
