Boeung Ket bring in Guinea-Bissau and Portugal winger Romario Balde

Boeung Ket have signed Guinea-Bissau and Portugal winger Romario Balde from Itabaiana on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old joins the Cambodian Premier League club after leaving Itabaiana, completing the move on 31 July 2026. Balde plays primarily on the left wing and is right-footed.

Balde’s arrival adds experience from spells across Portugal, Cyprus, Poland, Brazil, South Korea, Thailand and China. He began his development with Estrela da Amadora before joining Benfica’s academy, where he progressed through the club’s youth teams and later played for Benfica B.

He subsequently spent time with Tondela, Lechia Gdansk, Coimbra and Gil Vicente. His move to Tondela came on loan from Benfica B, while he later joined Coimbra on loan from Lechia Gdansk. Balde also had a loan spell at Leixoes during his time with Gil Vicente.

The winger moved to Cyprus in 2021, joining Doxa Katokopia before switching to AEL Limassol for a reported €50,000 fee in January 2022. He later continued his career in Thailand with Ratchaburi FC, China with NT Zhiyun, and at WH Three Towns before joining Gangwon FC in February 2025 as a free agent.

Balde left Gangwon in April 2025 and later joined APOEL Nicosia in August of that year. He departed the Cypriot club in January 2026, then signed for Itabaiana in March before making his latest move.

His career record includes 64 appearances and three goals in Liga Portugal 2, along with 31 top-flight Portuguese appearances and two goals. He also made 48 appearances in the Super League, contributing seven goals and five assists.

Balde’s strongest recorded output came in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored seven goals and supplied three assists in 15 appearances. He also has senior experience in the Cyprus League, Ekstraklasa, Thai League and other domestic competitions.

Born in Bissau on 25 December 1996, Balde stands 1.80m tall and joins Boeung Ket as a free agent after his spell with Itabaiana.
