Ali Maamar to Porto: Anderlecht right-back linked with Liga Portugal switch

Ali Maamar, the Morocco-Belgium right-back currently at RSC Anderlecht, is being linked with a move to Portuguese giants Porto as the Liga Portugal side explore options at full-back. The 21-year-old defender, who holds dual nationality and is valued at around €2.5 million, is under contract with the Brussels club until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal would require agreement with Anderlecht rather than a cut-price departure.

Maamar has recently broken into Anderlecht’s senior set-up after progressing through the club’s youth ranks and second team. He made a full 90-minute appearance in UEFA Europa League qualifying for the Belgian side in the 2026/27 campaign, underlining his emergence from the academy into European competition.

Born in Brussels on 23 March 2005 and standing at 1.82m, Maamar joined Anderlecht’s first team in January 2025 from RSCA Futures, having previously moved through Anderlecht’s youth and U18 sides following early spells at KV Mechelen and Lierse SK at youth level. His development within the Anderlecht structure and his recent elevation to continental action have attracted attention as Porto assess the market for defensive reinforcements.

With Maamar’s current deal running for another two years beyond this summer, Anderlecht are under no immediate pressure to sell, and any negotiations are likely to factor in his status as a first-team squad member following his promotion from the club’s academy pathway.
